Andrew never makes you feel rushed and as a result of this, at the very end of the appointment, he listened to what I had to say, took the extra time needed to have a closer look and discovered what had been causing the problem. “I was diagnosed with dislexyer while I was at school. I am 34 years old now have been wearing my green glasses for just over 8 years now. I had always been worried and found it difficult reading and writing because I found it hard to to focus in large amounts of words. Before I had the glasses I worked just packing boxes not needing to read much and didn’t have the confidence to try and better myself. It was my gran that found Andrews & Rogers in the hull daily mail about the test and wanted me to try it. Since I’ve had my green glasses, I have bettered myself. Working up the ladder with my work. Now working in purchasing for a large company with a lot of respondents, read/writing emails, deal with contract, spread sheets and now an all round more confident person with words. It’s hard to explain how it works apart from “the words stay still on the page.” I always say to anyone that is in the same situation as myself to go and just have the test and you’ll see if it works for yourself there and then. “I have been a customer of Andrew and Rogers for many years now. They have always managed me eye condition professionally and with courtesy and provided the most appropriate solutions to improve my all-round vision and comfort of having to wearing glasses. However, my prescription has now progressed to the point of having to return to wearing contact lens, which I have done with some trepidation after the memories of wearing contact lens in the 70s and 80s. This was further complicated by the fact that one of my eyes has had a corneal graft and the other eye presents an even more technical problem, with no medical intervention with quite severe distortion of the cornea. Again, I sat down and talked to Andrew and we went through all of my history looking at the graft, previous wearing of contact lens, improving my sight generally with glasses and we made the decision together that it was probably worth trying contact lens to see if we could improve my vision. Andrew reassured me that contact lens technology has come on over the years and was very hopeful of being able to get soft contact lens to make all day comfort possible. The eye with the severe keratoconus did provide him with a huge technical challenge. (with the angle measurements required for the contact lens off the scale of his instrument). However, with some work from him and him contacting his contact lens supplier personally to talk through the problem, I was able to go back for my first fitting. I can say that this has proved highly successful and I am now wearing soft contact lens and have better vision than I have had for many a year with glasses (for those people who remember lens from the 70s and 80s it’s worth the effort to go back and be tested for soft lens). If anyone is looking for opticians who can manage more complex eye problems I can thoroughly recommend you make a visit and anybody who has simple eye correction problems they have a fantastic range of spectacles and contact lenses available to you. Just to say thanks again for your work effort and patience.”

“Andrew is the only person I’ve ever called ‘The Miracle Man. He is the only person who has been able to help me with my issues. To put it simply, he gave me my sight back. From having a terrible and worrying condition with my eyes Andrew was able to get me back to work within a month. He saw the problem and rectified it as quickly as possible. Above his knowledge and expertise is his wonderful and welcoming nature combined with his sense of humour. It is a true pleasure to be in his company, even if for the worst of reasons.
