Today's Real Life Case: 50 Shades of Precision Tints

We saw four clients in need of a Colorimeter Visual Stress test this afternoon, which has inspired us to create awareness and stimulate a conversation surrounding visual stress.

In today's real life case segment, we talk to you about these patients to show you some possible outcomes of the test.

The first client of the afternoon had worn colorimeter precision tinted spectacles for four years and found them extremely helpful for reading and writing. However, the effect had waned a little recently, so a reassessment of the tint was needed. A small but significant shift from orange to yellow was noted during the test and the patient’s visual stress symptoms were minimised once again.

The second patient had been treated for an eye movement muscle problem by the hospital eye clinic, but there was still “jumping” of the words whilst he was reading. The patient has dyslexia, so an Intuitive colorimeter test was performed, in which a turquoise/green colour was selected to reduce his visual stress to a minimum. He then went home with a brand-new pair of precision tinted glasses.

The third client, a teenage girl, was not dyslexic but did suffer with classic visual stress symptoms, including a glare from white pages that was causing a lot of discomfort. A colour was found to help with the Intuitive Colorimeter, but the Wilkins Rate of Reading Test® results showed a huge improvement as the reading speed more than doubled with the prescribed precision tint.

The fourth client was a gentleman who had found long periods of time on a computer was causing visual stress symptoms and headaches. A CT scan had recently ruled out any serious causes, but the client was still suffering with symptoms. The Intuitive Colorimeter helped to prescribe a precision tint to minimise glare from the screen, and a huge improvement of the symptoms of eyestrain. The end result was a new pair of varifocals with a green tint.

Be sure to look out for our next post, as we will be discussing the test and visual stress in more detail.
